What goes on under our roof...

UCW (United Church Women): The purpose of this group is to unite the women of the Congregation to pursue the mission of the church. Involved in many projects, there are many opportunities to volunteer and get to know people! Meets once a month.

Our Choirs.

BUC Choir: For those who like to sing! No need to have an operatic voice, just the love of singing from the heart. Beaconsfield United is know for its tradition of good music. New members are always welcome. Join us Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm.

Men's Choir: For the busy executives and others who don't want to practise every week, the Men's Choir is just for you. No more than six practices a year, and the occasional appearance in the worship service. Come and join us, guys... it's a lot of fun.

Women's Choir: Singing from time to time during worship, the Women's Choir is a great opportunity for women to get together in fellowship and sing. No experience necessary; everyone is welcome.

Youth Choir: Our choir is open to all young children and time demands are very minimal. A great opportunity for the small fry to sing in the occasional worship service..

Family Choir: Children and parents have fun singing praise songs and playing rhythm instruments together for seasonal services.

The Chancel Band: Our congregation has many gifted musicians who, from time to time, share their talents during worship. If you play a musical instrument we invite you to join this group. You do not have to be a professional!

For information, please contact our Church Office: 514-695-0600

The Sunday School: Our Christian Education program is a high priority at BUC. A curriculum is used and volunteer teachers receive training guides. Each Sunday School year is divided into units; each unit lasts roughly six or seven weeks. Children join the adults for the first part of the worship service (10:00-10:15 am), and then they join the Sunday School classes during the remainder of the service (10:15-11:05 am).
To learn  about the Sunday School curriculum please link onto  Seasons of the Spirit.

Confirmation: Classes are held once a week over a period of time for those young people in grades nine and up, and who are contemplating confirmation. These classes usually last from eight to ten weeks, and are scheduled in the spring , as required.

Adult Education: From time to time groups meet to hold sessions on a variety of concerns or issues. This is an opportunity to examine our faith and to look at the scriptures to discern the truth together.

The Looney Club: A once a week breakfast club which meets for friendship, laughter and play. A breakfast is served for two 'loonies' ($2) and afterwards some of the folks retire afterwards for a game of euchre or even line dancing. Every Thursday at 9:00 am.

Ping Pong: Every Monday morning an enthusiastic group of men (women welcomed) meets to enjoy friendship and games. Please call the Church office for further information.

Pastoral Care Team: A group of dedicated members from BUC who provide care and support to those experiencing a crisis, loss, illness or loneliness. Volunteers act as drivers, visitors, food preparers and callers.

Seniors for Seniors:This program which has been designed as a stimulating, fun and interesting way to encourage seniors to become involved with other seniors who are experiencing life changes such as diminished physical, social or mental capacity.
Activities include socialization, creative arts, hobbies and a hot lunch.

Social Justice Committee: A group of  concerned people who meet from time to time to discuss local, national and international concerns. Presentations are given by eminent outside speakers and gatherings are open to the general public.
For information please click here Social Justice page.

The Gallery: Our narthex has been turned into an exhibition gallery. It provides an opportunity to display church and community artists' work as well as themes about our experiences... a medium for dialogue between church and community.

Phone Prayer Chain: Praying for others is what 'Intercessory Prayer' is all about. Practiced since earliest times, theologians suggest that the greatest prayer movement of this type is now taking place. If you are interested in praying for others in your home or church please get in touch. There are no meetings involved.

Youth Group:This is an informal social group for younger BUCers  between 12-18 years of age. The group (currently not active) gets together about once a month for fellowship and social outings such as bowling, skating, spaghetti dinners and other such fun activities.
You and your ideas are most welcome.
