Message from the minister - September 2001
Message du ministre - septembre 2001

Dear Friends

As the fall fast approaches I want to remind you of the Church Supply List you will need to make your church year a successful and prosperous one.

Two pairs of shoes: One for outside outreach community work and the other pair used in the internal running of the church`s affairs.

Compass Set: This will help you keep your bearings straight as the lines of our lives intersect with one another.

10 HB Pencils with erasers: I always think the most important part of a pencil is the eraser, reminding us that we do make mistakes and have the ability to erase them.

6 Hilroy Notebooks: These are essential to keep track of the various components and subjects of our parish life. One should be marked worship, the next prayer, third study and reflection, fourth outreach & mission, the fifth should be personal growth and the final one unmarked to record the unexpected.

Lunch Box: This article should be large enough to transport potato salad for six, two lemon loaves, one casserole, one dozen squares, two dozen cookies, and a loaf of sandwiches (please refrain from the egg).

Art Supplies: One box of 24 Crayola crayons that will be used to color our environment and enhance our atmosphere with beauty and with hue.

One Box of Kleenex: These will be used to wipe away the tears of our eyes in the difficult moments of anguish and of grief.

Consumable Fees: These will be used for the day to day operation of the church, special projects and incidentals. Please speak to Principal Al Blair or Vice-Principal Roger Snelling whether you would like to pay these in a lump sum or spread them over the year.

Enrichment Programs: You will find in the remainder of the newsletter things you are encouraged to sign up for to make your life and the life of the congregation more enriched.

Field Trips: We regularly take trips to St. Columba House, Montreal City Mission, Dix Milles Village, the West Island Readaptation Center and the Family Life Center in an effort to make our community and our world a more friendly place.

Attendance: There are 52 regular gathering times that take place on Sunday morning and perhaps an additional 15 special gathering times that take place periodically throughout the year, which is approximately 145 hours of your time. This represents less than one week out of your year to tend to your personal religious and spiritual needs. While attendance is not taken your absence is noticed and there will be a test at the end of the year. Welcome back!

                                                                In Christ,

                                                                     Shaun E. Fryday
