O God, Author of the Prince of Peace,
look with patience as well as judgement
on those who feed the fires of war. 
Let nothing hide from us the terror,
the tragedy, the despair of war, 
nor let our honorable motives cover
the blasphemy against thy love 
in every injury and every death 
visited upon men, women,and children 
in the name of high principle 
or national defense. 

O Lord, may we be servants of your peace, 
not only by our opinions but also by our actions; through Jesus Christ our Lord, 
who took upon himself our violence 
that we might have peace in our hearts 
and in our world. 
Amen.
